A Very Short Story of Gratitude
A young man who relocated to the U.S found warmth in his new community. Each holiday, his kind neighbors invited him to their dinner tables, filling his heart with love and delicious food. In return, he bought groceries to contribute — a tradition that blossomed year after year.
Then one fall morning, tragedy struck: he lost his memory after falling down and hitting his head — even his name. Still, he remembered his neighbors' kindness. Weeks later, just before Thanksgiving, his memory returned. To show gratitude, he visited one of Southwest Farmers Market's 15 locations and ordered all his favorite dishes — jollof rice, fried plantain, porridge yam, akara, puff-puff, suya, and goat meat pepper soup — to celebrate with his "family" of friends.
