NURTURE THE MIND: Rest, Reflection, and Ritual

Women often carry visible & invisible loads & emotions, expectations, demands, and so much more.

Don't get me wrong, this also applies to men.

This month let's pause and be more intentional!

Ever stepped into your kitchen NOT as a chore, but as a fun ritual like many of us do? Then, you chop slowly. Sauté mindfully… And at night especially, you brew relaxing tea of your choice, disconnect from all noise, social media included, and sip with gratitude your eyes closed, while playing soothing sounds of music from your favorites.

Make that call for that recipe you never wrote down. Teach your daughter or niece and son or nephew how to season a pot just right.

When we are mindful and intentional:

And in that space, the mind exhales. Then, food becomes meditation. Culture becomes grounding. We nurture your family and make our dinner table a gathering place.

Our every meal becomes an act of preservation, and every mindful bite becomes a declaration:

Yes, we are worth nurturing.

Let's:

Always nourish your body.

Always protect your peace.

Always feed your family. Not just with foods for the body, but also for the soul…

Always support your community. Be kind to someone.

Last, but not the least, we should continue to support Southwest Farmers Market because it has the right

foods and ingredients for your pots and pantry while nourishing your bodies.

This summer, make your table sacred again with all the right foods and ingredients sourced from your

local Southwest Farmers Market. Invite family over for a simple meal. Let the children help wash

vegetables. Let stories flow between bites. We are reminded the way our parent(s) or grandparent(s)

insisted everyone eat before leaving. Well, I still do it to my young adult kids. It's in Sunday rice dishes

that brought cousins together. It's in laughter over shared bowls and second helpings.

When we gather around food rooted in our culture, we anchor identity. We remind our children where

they come from. We strengthen family bonds in ways that screens never can.
